Ted Mosby, Klaus and the funny use of the German language!

Image
I have just watched the first episode of How I Met Your Mother Season 8. I found it very good, it is the essence of the whole series, i.e. the Ted's quest of the true Love! Anyway the speech between Ted & Klaus is simply delightful :) In this post you will see, the video of this scene, a transcription of the dialog (from www.opensubtitle.org and myself) and an explanation of these very long words (contribution of the first reviewer of this post! ... and I thank all the other reviewers too). Enjoy! [The song is "Funeral" by the "Band of Horses", here is the youtube link]   ______________________________________________________________ Ted: Uh, excuse me. Klaus: Oh, hey, it's you. Ja okay, I'm not sure what kind of vibe I was giving off before, but I am not interested in your schnitzel, okay? Ted: No, no, no, no, no-- God, no. I-I just have one quick question: Victoria seems like a great girl. Why wouldn't you want to mar...

edufit: A simple Matlab fitting interface

Image
I love Matlab, it is a great software but the tools for fitting are a bit disappointing for me (see cftool ). The problem in my case came from the need to fit many files, at once. For this reason, I have developed a simple (about 2200 code lines)  Matlab GUI interface for fitting one-dimensional data. It is called edufit. Basically it is "just" a graphical front-end that use the powerful and standard function mod_nlinfit. edufit is the best way to use Matlab for curve fitting with custom equations. Trust me! Try it and give me your feedback! System requirements: Matlab 7 or + DOWNLOAD Here is the link to package. A Userguide is included! Alternative link

How big is internet?

How much space or, better to say, how many hard-discs do you need to dump all the internet content? According to wikipedia , the Internet Archive contained about 5.8 petabytes of data as of December 2010 and because it was growing at the rate of about 100 terabytes per month in March 2009, we can assume that now is about 7.8 petabyes. Do not forger that 1 petabyte is 1024 terabytes! Big eh?
